Cayetana Rodriguez is a senior at Clark University studying Management and Political Science, and pursuing Clark's Accelerated MBA program. Cayetana currently serves as Senior President for Clark Model United Nations, and has been part of the team since 2021. She is an international student from Lima, Peru. Cayetana is interested in sustainability and social impact, and currently works as a Sustainable Property Management Intern at Sustainable Comfort Inc. This past summer, she was also able to work at the Aspen Institute Business & Society Program. While not doing Model UN or working, she also contributes to campus as a Resident Adviser and Member of the Board of Trustees' Student Engagement Task Force. In her free time, Cayetana enjoys exploring the best Peruvian restaurant in MA and RI (best one so far is Ceviches @ Providence, RI), watching new TV shows, and dancing.
Speaking the Truth: Committee to Protect Journalists
Attacks and violence towards journalists have been one of the main discussions regarding protection of freedom and press. There have been around 1,668 journalists killed in the last 2 decades, and 85% of reported cases of violence against journalists go unpunished. With ongoing conflicts and political oppression across the world, the role of journalists in speaking the truth becomes more predominant than ever. In this committee, delegates will explore how to best protect journalists by improving current legal systems and creating international partnerships amongst global journalistic cooperations. Delegates will represent journalists and members of the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), one of the world's most important non-governmental organizations that seeks to promote freedom of speech throughout the world.
